Dr. Chihpin Huang,Life-time Chair Professor in environmental engineering, He has also served as Director of Environmental Technology and Smart System Research Center (ETSS) since 2015 and Executive Director for Top University Program in NCTU since 2007. 
Chihpin Huang received the B.Sc. and M.S. degrees from National Chang Kung University in 1981 and 1983. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, USA. CP joined the faculty at NCTU in 1990.
CP served as Senior Vice President of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) from 2013 to 2015 and Vice Chancellor of University System of Taiwan from 2012 to 2013, and was Associate Dean of the College and Director of Institute from 2006 to 2007 and from 2000 to 2002, respectively.
He has worked for National Science Council as the Coordinator in the field of Environmental Engineering from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Huang's research interests are primary concentrated on the interfacial phenomena of particles in water and wastewater systems from the aspects of physics, chemistry, and microbiology.
Ninteen PhD students and about one hundred full-time MS students have graduated under CP's supervision during his twenty-six year service in NCTU.  He is co-author of more than 150 papers published in archival journals and equivalent number of papers in conference proceedings as well as 20 patents granted.

Recently, Dr. Huang's most interesting and complex works include:
(1) Optimized design and operational control in the removal of particle and algae removal from water and wastewater treatment:
chemical pretreatment, coagulation, membrane filtration ;

(2) Development of the photoelectro-induced advanced oxidation processes in wastewater treatment and reclamation ;

(3) Novel design of Membrane Biological Reactor (MBR) in wastewater treatment ;

(4) Chemical approaches for fouling mitigation in MBR and RO systems ;

(5) Bio-toxicity assessments for nano-scale particles and high-tech wastewater: Daphnia magna and Zebrafish embryos.
